Limited Edition Vinyl Recordings & Handmade Musical Artifacts from Tucson, AZ
Dead Meadow, Simon Joyner, Golden Boots

PS - There are still come spots left for The Lathe Cut Camp June 8-10... so if you got the time and need a nice warm getaway to the arid, "but it's a dry heat" desert, to cut your own records and learn all the secrets, check out

1. Now that the dust has settled on shipping, there a handful of more Luna 7"s from last time leftover, and some Grandaddy Soild Gold test pressings that popped up in a box. (

2. Dead Meadow – The Whirlings Tour 7”

Jason from Dead Meadow sent me a text at 4pm one day and asked “Hey, any chance you could make us some tour singles in the next 10 days?” and I, having nothing all that pressing (get it? Get it? :-( ) going on that night said “I'll make them all in the next 24 hours”. And I did it. 22.5 hours to psychedelic dip paint the discs, die cut the covers on my grandma-approved Cricut scrapbooking cutter (a process that took almost 6 hours... those things are slow), design/print the clear labels, cut the 4.5 min stoner rock jam (an outtake from the Dead Meadow classic album, Feathers), and package them all up. 100 copies made, and we only have 50 copies available. The rest went with Dead Meadow on their US tour.

Simon Joyner – Morning Sun, Slow Down Tour single

Simon Joyner saw my post on IG about the Dead Meadow single and sent me a text saying “Hey! I've got a tour coming up too? Do you have time to knock out some singles for me as well?” Annndddd. Of course I did Having already proven myself with the Dead Meadow “24 hours from concept to completion” task, I took a more leisurely pace and spread these out over 3 days. Simon and his wife Sarah hand-screened and die cut the covers themselves. 120 copies available, and we only have 60 available. The rest will be on the road with Simon.

3. Golden Boots – Circuit Bored Tour 7”

This is a pressed 7” that Golden Boots self-released for their (now finished) European Tour. We have 30 copies in distro. These are new full band versions, recorded live in the studio, recordings of the New Wave songs from their self released cassette, As You Remember Them. 6 songs on one 7”! Only 250 3copies were made and they all have professionally printed sleeves.

1. Clones and Drones
2. Buttercup
3. Psychological Strength
4. Circuit Jerk
5. Prayin' Hands

6. Satan the MP3

Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Luna, Golden Boots releases!

Well, last time, I really meant it when I said I had no plans for PIAPTK for 2019 and that I was going to focus on other things for a bit. But, like clockwork, the universe sent me ANOTHER project that I couldn't turn down. And then another. And another. So, from here on out, any time you hear me saying something to the effect of “One of these days, the music industry won't have PIAPTK to kick around anymore”, you can probably figure it's just me negging the universe into throwing something else my way.

Coming Up:

Little Wings – Ropes in Paradise – a record of country covers.
Floating Action – New World Camels LP
(Speaking of FA, I just found out that Baby Gas Mask Records still has copies of the long out of print, Is It Exquisite, in stock at their site. Get one here:
Money Mark – Change is Coming –
Soild Gold LP!
Plus some pretty exciting, but unconfirmed other stuff.

Golden Boots – Live from Arizona Illustrated
-This is an instrumental track recorded for the Arizona PBS feature “Arizona Illustrated”. Check out the feature here. These discs were recorded at the Phoenix Art Museum festival as part of an MVR gig, but we made an extra 30 copies to sell through PIAPTK.

Tunde Adebimpe (of TV On The Radio) – Dupes/Good Fortune Handmade 7”

When I talk about the universe sending me temptations to keep on keepin' on, I mean it. This time it was getting a call from Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio asking me to make some last minute singles for a solo set he is doing at a festival in Denmark at the end of the month. And, as I usually do when someone like this asks to hire my services, I pivot and say “Sure! And I'll do them for free. IF I can release it on PIAPTK and you will hand make covers”. And so, that is what happened. Less than four days after the first phone call, I'd cut 150 double sided singles and was in Tunde's backyard in LA silkscreening the back covers while he hand-customized all the fronts. These tunes were recorded with Money Mark Ramos-Nishita as the soundtrack to an animated film.

Listen to It Here!

Luna – Inside Your Heart (Drew Tetz Phenokistoscope) Animated Pic Disc

Luna is one of my long time favorite bands. Much like Tunde, Dean Wareham originally approached me about doing some lathe cuts for a preorder for his latest solo LP, Dean Wareham and Cheval Sombre, and I offered to do em cheap in exchange for a Luna track to release on PIAPTK, so he gave me this great Monochrome Set cover. This one sided picture disc includes another amazing Drew Tetz Phenokistoscope pic disc designs. While you are at it, pic up a copy of the Spaceface “The Calm Before” Phenokistoscope pic disc.Check out the PIAPTK Instagram for a pic of it in action.

Holiday Bundles, House Cleaning, Found Song Poem Lps, JNR Archives

Well, it's that time of year again. I'm broke and you are looking for the perfect gift for the vinyl loving loved one in your life (and maybe yourself). So, I'm making it easy to solve both of our problems by putting together Valu-Paks of various prices, makeups and qtys. If you get stuff you already have, give them as gifts! If you order multiple "random" packs, we will do our best to not double you up too much (unless you have your eye on something specific for grandma (may we suggest Graves - Easy Not Easy??), in which case, we can consider requests.

2019 is shaping up to be the slowest year in PIAPTK's 13 year history. Going to take it slow and focus on other things.

Mobile Vinyl Recorders and the Record Lathe Repair/Restoration/Sales/Training, etc is taking me to some wild places it's looking like. I'd love to talk about them, but they aren't totally set in stone, so I don't wanna jinx 'em, but if they come through, it's gonna be bananas.

Anyway, in order to focus on those other things, and to buy a small commercial building to move The Lathe Cave into, I'm gonna need to clear out some space and raise some serious capital by the end of the year... both to have a down payment, and to show the bank that I can actually make more money in a year than someone working part time at Taco Bell.

So, any purchases from made this month will get you on Santa's Not Naughty List.

On the docket this month:
1) Holiday Valu-Pak Bundles - Get a bunch of records for not a bunch of money
2) Song Poem Found LPs - This shit is wild... see below
3) Test Pressing Sales - Most Test Pressings down to $20 per
4) Joyful Noise Super Rarity Lathe Cuts - Stuff I made for JNR including Melvins, Built to Spill, Joan Of Arc, Tortoise, etc

Class of 2018 Valu-Pak 9 LPs - $90
2018 was the year that we doubled down on the pressed LP. We released 8 fantastic albums (one double LP). Catch up with all of them in one fell swoop by picking up the whole lot for only $90! That's a $135 value! (does not include the Floating Action LP, because they sold out super quick)
Includes: Sugar Candy Mountain - Do Right, The Blank Tapes - Candy, Jim White - Waffles, Triangles, and Jesus (2xLP), The Gift Machine - New Tangles, SM Wolf - Bad Ocean, Jad Fair & David Fair, Jad Fair & David Liebe Hart, and Graves - Easy Not Easy.

Hand Painted Pak - 4 LPs, 5 Lathe Cut Singles - $145 ($215 value!)
You know we love hand-painted and unique covers. So here is your chance to pick up most of the hand-painted covers that we still have in stock. And if you've been sleeping on Almost Halloween Time Records (one of our favorite labels of all-time), you better get hip.
Includes: SM Wolf - Bad Ocean LP Almost Halloween Time Cover, Graves - Easy Not Easy LP AHT Cover, American Monoxide Web Content AHTCover, The Blank Tapes - Candy hand Painted 8x10 photo cover, Jad Fair - Stick/This Time 7" Hand markered by Jad, Arrington DiDionysio - Live at the Lathe Cave 7" with unique audio AND oil painting by Arrington, Eric Slick - You Became The Light/Dirge 7" Hand designed by Eric, GlobeLamp - Sha La Love/Birds Down My Back hand drawn by Elizabeth, And Grey Waves - Faith/Void 7" lathe cut with unique handpainted cover by various artists. $215 value. Only $145!

Lathe Cut Single Pak - 20+ Lathe Cut Singles for $100
We have a ton of amazing, random lathe cuts that we've put out over the years. CD-Records, shaped records, hand painted ones, all kinds of weird shit. With this pack you will get over $225 worth of lathe cuts for $100. Randomness, but a good selection and cross section of what we've released. Might even throw in some out of print archive copies.

Cassette Pak 13 Tapes (including out of print Scottman "In Your Dreams!") $55
One of every tape we have in print, PLUS the Scottman In Your Dreams, which highly desired and long gone. You get:
PIAPTK - Forest Fallows - At Home, Golden Boots - Labryyynth, Golden Boots - Telelog Freedom, Devin James Fry - Headwater Songs, Orkestra Mendoza - Vamos A Guarachar, Reptar - Lurid Glow, American Monoxide/White Light split,
Soild Gold - Scottman - In your Dreams, Grandaddy - Arm of Roger, Jeffrey Lewis - Outtakes, Floating Action - Research, Be Gulls - Dead Giveaway, Eric Slick - Out of Habit.

PIAPTK Starter Pak Lite - $100

This is just a random assortment of good stuff we've released over the years. Guaranteed value of over $250.

PIAPTK Starter Pak Heavy - $200
16 LPs, 8 pressed 7"s or 10"s, 5 CD-Records, and 6 Lathe Cuts. This is just a random assortment of good stuff we've released over the yearsGuaranteed value of over $500.

PIAPTK In Print Load Up - $500
One copy of everything we have in print, Lps, Pressed 7"s, lathe cuts, CD-Records, whatever. I didn't even bother doing the math on all of it, but my guess is that it's well over $1500. I'll probably even dig into the archives and throw down some sweetness if for some reason it doesn't look like a good enough deal to me to me when I'm packing it up.

Song Poem - Trendsetters - Century 21 Found LPs!

If you aren't familiar with "Song Poems", get ready for a rabbit hole of weirdness (google it, and watch "Off the Charts: The Song Poem Story Documentary). Morally questionable recording studios would put ads looking for lyrics "for new hit songs to be recorded by their soon to be famous singers"... chumps would send in some poems for "evaluation", ALWAYS be told "this is amazing! All we need is X amount of dollars to send this new singer into the studio and press up some records to send to radio stations! You will be rich!". They would record these songs using the house band, with VERY little (if any) preparation, and usually press a handful of copies of a single to send to the "lyricist". Some of these tunes were actually pretty decent, or at least hilarious for their casual shittiness.

But occasionally they would make LP comps of these amazingly awful masterpieces.

I found about 20 copies of this pretty stellar (for a song poem record) LP at a thrift store, most of them still sealed. My guess is that it came from the estate of one of these Suckers... I mean, songwriters... They go for $35-50 on ebay usually and are a pretty hot commodity for those weirdos in the know. But I want to give yall first crack at em.

This one has it all... country, folk, funk, Jesus Freaks, Pissed off Ex-Husbands, etc. Something for everyone. Also, amazing names like Kooky Kay, IB Cipher, Dewey R Demott, and Cy Attica.

Test Pressing Sale!

Clearing out some of the old Test Pressings. Most of which are marked down to $20 a piece. Go Get em!

Joyful Noise Super Rarities Sale!

I've been collaborating with Joyful Noise Recordings for a long time now. For the first three or four years I cut ALL of their lathe cuts, and there were a lot of them. Eventually I set them up with their own lathe so they could do some of the cuts in house, but I continued to do some of their bigger jobs. Part of the deal I had with them was that I got to keep 3 copies of every record I cut. One for my archives, one for my play shelf, and one for whatever friend I had that was a huge fan of whatever the band was. But, I've seen a of people asking for these super rarities on the JNR FB group, and some of the prices on discogs and ebay are bonkers. So, in order to get these out of boxes on my shelves and into the hands of fans who will enjoy them, I'm keeping my play copy and selling one or two extra copies I have FOR THE ORIGINAL JNR SALES PRICE so that the super fans of these bands can have these and not the ebay flipper parasites.

There are records from The Melvins, Sebadoh, WHY?, Built To Spill, Kishi Bashi, Son Lux, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Joan of Arc, Thee Oh Sees, and dozens of other amazing artists.

LIMIT THREE PURCHASES PER PERSON FOR THE FIRST DAY. I want to give everyone a chance to get some of the good stuff, so after the first wave has subsided, you can come back and get more if you want.

50 Bands and a Cat - (50B) - These were to raise funds to fight the asshole Mike Pence when he was trying to fuck up Indiana... Nostalgic for those days? I am.. (whomp whomp). They were limited to whatever people ordered at the time might have been 20 or 156)
Fountain Square Music Fest (FSMF) - Cut Live at JNRs first
Almost Live - (AL) These are the lathe cut vers mostly limited to 100
VIP Lathes
Other stuff - random cuts I did over the years

TWO NEW JAD FAIR LPS! W/ David Fair and w/ David Liebe Hart and Jason Willet!

Hi! Sorry to everyone who didn't get a Dr. Dog Laserdisc last time... they literally sold out in 15 seconds. bonkers.

BUT... Please take a second to check out The New Gift Machine Lp. It's REALLY Great! AND This is your last chance to get the FREE Preorder Only Bonus 5". After we start shipping them next week, they will be OUT OF PRINT! See below for the full writeup on these badboys.

This time, there is only two new releases, and both are from Jad Fair

I love Jad Fair! Jad Fair was one of the first artists that PIAPTK got to work with, and one of the first weirdo outsider artists that I heard and connected to, way back when my former babysitter went off to college and her parents sold her tape collection at a garage sale when I was 13. Got two wild new Jad Fair records, both collaborations with guys named David... his brother, David Fair, and Tim and Eric weirdo, David Liebe Hart.

These are being co-released with Joyful Noise Recordings, and we only have a little over 150 of each. And I'm sure that their copies will be sold out by the time you read this.

WHILE YOU ARE AT IT: Pick up a copy of the Jad Fair handdrawn cover lathe cut 7" (at a reduced price), or a three pack with that AND both Jad and the Davids albums. I also have four copies left of the Jad Fair and Friends Live at SXSW 2007 (Jad + me+ Steve Fisk).

Bio Jad & David Fair:

When you’re dealing with artists as prolific as Jad and David Fair, it’s easy to get lost in the tangled web of their discography. Of course the obsessive fans will want to hear it all, but for casual listeners, such a vast body of work can seem daunting. So let’s make this simple, Scuse Us While We Kiss The Sky is a record you don’t want to miss.

Jad and David Fair founded Half Japanese in a bedroom of their shared home in 1974, and they’ve been gnawing at rock’s overblown tropes ever since. Music critics often characterize the brothers’ anti-establishment zeal as a Don Quixote like naiveté. But there’s undeniable mastery in the Fair’s precise destruction of popular music.

That technique is on full display throughout the duration of Scuse Us... Unforgettable moments include the album’s opener ‘Rock Me Reckless’: “If you want to rock me right, rock me reckless,” Jad wails over David’s pounding drums, as he strangles his guitar into submission. You’re unlikely to encounter a more visceral slab of rock and roll anywhere else this year.

‘All About That Lady Who Fixed That Painting Stupid’ is a quintessential Fair brothers anthem. The lyrics pay homage to Cecilia Giménez, the elderly Spanish woman who attempted to restore Elías García Martínez’s 19th-century painting Ecce Homo in 2012. “I prefer the version that looks a monkey in an eskimo jacket, the way it was before wouldn’t have caught my attention” Jad sings in this stirring tribute from one neo-primitive deconstructionist to another.

Jad is hard-pressed to give a number when asked exactly how many records he’s recorded with David, but there’s palpable chemistry and comfort in their rapport. "Playing with David feels so natural to me. That's how we started in music, just the two of us playing together,” Jad observes.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Jad and David, or a newcomer to their singular musical universe, Scuse Us While We Kiss The Sky is an essential Fair brothers experience.

Bio Jad & David Leibe Hart

“Do you know a good entertainment lawyer? The Catholic church is using my music without my permission." - David Liebe Hart on David Liebe Hart Meets Jad Fair And Jason Willett

The music industry thrives on labeling artists. The practice is so deeply embedded that even the subgenres of subgenres have their own subgenres. Within this hyper-regulated system, there is no place for the indescribably unique. Artists who flagrantly disregard the system are deemed outsiders, a distinction that eventually morphed into a label of its own. With that said, Joyful Noise Recordings is proud to present David Liebe Hart Meets Jad Fair And Jason Willett, a project that unites two titanic figures from the world of outsider expression.

For fans of wild unrestrained rock and roll, Jad Fair needs no introduction. Jad has spent the last forty years demolishing rock music norms with Half Japanese and various other projects. While David Leibe Hart is best known for his otherworldly puppetry on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, he’s been recording music since 2004 when he issued his self-released debut Christian Hymns And Songs Of Praise.

Jad and David didn’t meet before or during this long-distance collaboration, but both artists express a mutual admiration. "I was so pleased to work with David. He has a real creative flow and his style is very fresh,” says Jad. "I think Jad Fair is a super-genius and a talented person,” offers David.

The result of their artistic partnership is immediately humorous, occasionally dark, and ultimately touching in its naked emotional expression. David’s unconventional lyrics address a variety of autobiographical themes, from an appreciation of nature, to an almost erotic love for lentil beans. Beyond those concerns David takes listeners on a kaleidoscopic trip through trash TV based partially on his own experiences as a bit actor in Hollywood during the ‘70s and ’80s.

“A songwriter is a painter who paints what he's experienced and what he's gone through. I just paint what I've experienced,” David explains. “David certainly chose themes that wouldn't have come to my mind to write songs about,” counters Jad.

The end result is an album as compelling as it is unusual. David Liebe Hart Meets Jad Fair And Jason Willett is a milestone release in outsider music.

Little Wings, Spaceface, Signed Test Pressings, Lathe Cut Camp 8!

dang. it's been a pretty amazing (and hot) summer here in Tucson. I've actually been home for a while getting stuff done, so it's been nice. This particular email (even more than usual) has some very long winded jabbering about my thoughts as I enter the THIRTEENTH year of this label... PIAPTK Bar Mitzvah Party time??? Is THIS the year that PIAPTK becomes and man and puts away childish things, like trying to make a living in the music industry in 2018? Doubtful. As I get older, the more I realize how very much this label means to me, in terms of being able to collaborate with these incredible bands that are largely ignored (or lost in the intense digital clutter of the internet) by the public at large. It also reminds me how amazing YOU, the purchasers and supporters (even if you've only bought one or two things from us over the years) are.

Thank you so much for allowing me to bring this weird shit into the world over the years. I want to continue for a long time, although I am constantly evolving to try to figure out the best way to do it without going bankrupt.

A NOTE ON SHIPPING: So, all previous orders should have gone out by now. We never claimed to be Amazon Prime, but we've been taking longer to get these things out of the studio recently, and I really apologize for that. It's just me (and I'm always out of town) and one fulfillment guy (and he's got 3 other jobs), but we are working on fixing the slow down, so thanks a lot for your patience!

1) Little Wings: High Times Go Shine - Hand drawn Covers Instant Merch Machine 7"!
2) Hickeyfest Singles Leftovers
3) Spaceface Phenokenistoscope 7" Pic disc #2 "The Calm Before"

4) Lathe Cut Camp 8: Columbus Day Weekend Oct 6-8, 2018. Record Lathes for sale...
5) Signed Test Pressings added to the Test Pressings Category!

Little Wings: High Times Go Shine Handmade 7"s! Instant Merch Machine Installment 4!

If you have paid any attention to PIAPTK over the years, you KNOW how much I love Little Wings. If you haven't done it, do yourself a really big favor and check out his expansive catalog. I binge listened to his entire catalog on my recent drive around New Mexico and Colorado for gigs and it was amazing revisiting all of these records that I have been DEVOURING on their release over the last 20 years, but all in the space of one roadtrip. It brought up so many weird memories and feels... it was intense. Lyrically, his music can be charmingly silly and light or deeply profound, melodically, he has an extremely unique and clever sense of timing and structure, his voice has a tremendously wide range and is wholly unique, and the way that he carries all of these elements through the different phases and sounds of each album and self references themes and melodies from previous songs and phases of his career gives his entire catalog, while diverse and constantly evolving a type of cohesiveness that very few artists has....

BUT ANYWAY... enough fanboying over one of my favorite artists... I'm here to sell you some shit. But I would rather you spend the money on a couple months of Spotify and listen to nothing but Little Wings (and throw in the rest of the PIAPTK artists for good measure) if you can't do both.

Ok, so, around the Lathe Cave in Tucson, we have an open standing offer to our friends and family... it's called The Lathe Cave Instant Merch Machine... if they are coming through Tucson, they can stop through and spend a few hours making records in the studio. I cut the records while they hand make the covers and we make how ever many copies that we can before the show. Usually 30-70 depending on where they are coming from/going to.

Kyle Field came through Tucson as the last stop on his last tour and did some great india ink and pencil/pen drawings while I cut records for his brand new tune, High Times Go Shine. We made 54 copies. He took 27 of them with him, and left 27 of them here. so I REALLY don't have many to sell.

FYI, we are down to single digit copies of all other Little Wings and related releases. We have 5 copies of the Soild Gold Be Gulls "Dead Giveaway" LP, 9 copies of the LW "Me Thats Me" CD-Record, and 4 copies of the Little Wings "Made It Rain" handpainted LP. So pick one up!

So if you bout that Little Wings lyfe, go get em.

A couple months ago, I went out to Legget, CA to Hickey Fest, the "Coachella on Quaaludes" music fest run by Sugar Candy Mountain, and featuring a ton of bands that we've worked with over the years and/or friends of ours.

Hickeyfest is a tiny camping festival in Leggett, CA that happens this weekend and is thrown/curated by Sugar Candy Mountain. Many of the artists are bands we've worked with.

I took a lathe out there and was doing on-site cutting of exclusive tracks from some of the bands that will only be available at the festival and through this site for three days only!

I still have a handful of overruns from the festival.

This particular weekend really codified for me something that i've known for a long time... There is a very cohesive and collaborative connection between MANY of the PIAPTK artists... PIAPTK is very much a family tree, much like the Athens, GA Elephant 6 Collective. Almost ALL PIAPTK artists have ties to other artists... that's how I find bands I love... new bands from previous bands or friends/bands they've toured with, etc.

At some point I want to try to put a name to it, and promote it as an entity so that people can REALLY dig into this amazing scene of slackass geniuses. Maybe call it "West Coast Soft Psych" or "Universal Western Attractions" (after a comp of the same name compiled a decade ago by Matt Adams of the Blank Tapes.

But, this festival was UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE.... You saw the same musicians on stage with 4-6 different bands, many times after one or two practices, playing their asses off, and sounding fucking amazing. Everybody shared members and it was like a huge family picnic. It was fucking mindblowingly incredible and I didn't even take any drugs. Highlights of the fest for ME were: Bill Baird, FpodBpod (HUGELY underrated and incredible band), Assateague, Graves, SCM, Blank Tapes, and Veronica Bianqui (she is going to be HUGE, yall... I PROMISE)....

FUNFACT: We are starting to get a PIAPTK MEGATOUR together to play the West Coast on the way up to/back from Hickeyfest 2019... Hopefully with FLOATING ACTION, GOLDEN BOOTS, and FOREST FALLOWS plus more, hopefully.

ANYWAY, back to trying to sell you shit. We had a few of some of these left over... so pick them up!

While at Hickeyfest, San Francisco recording studio, Donut Time Audio, was doing on site recording sessions in the woods of some of the bands. So I decided to make a few copies of some of them.

There are only 20 copies... 7 for the band, 3 for my archives and 10 of each to sell. There are also a handful of leftovers from the original series.

To Differentiate them from the original series, they are on round semi flexis, still silkscreened and swirl painted.

Bill Baird - Captain Brain (on site with Donut Time Audio)
Veronica Bianqui - Sunday Cups (on site with Donut Time Audio)
Graves - Pay Me Less (on site with Donut Time Audio)

A few tracks got added last minute, if you purchased a disc earlier and didn't get ALL of the tracks in the download, reply here and I'll send them over.

On silkscreened and psychedelic swirled picture discs.

Available Discs:
Sugar Candy Mountain - The Night is So Long
Graves - Waterfall
Assateague - Oceanside
The Blank Tapes - Big Ol Wave
TV Mike and the Scarecrowes - Patience
King Dream - Echo Chamber
Veronica Bianqui - Shame on You

Lathe Cut Camp 8! Plus Record Lathes for Sale

I've got some record lathes for sale! All of them are fully functional, (will be) ready to go and include a starter pack and tech support. If you want to make your own records at home, email me!

We've done 7 sold out Lathe Cut Camps, and are constantly getting asked to do more. So, #8 will be on the three-day Columbus Day Weekend, Oct 6-8. You could stay home and celebrate a genocidal murderer who didn't even know where the fuck he was, or you can come down to beautiful Tucson, AZ and learn how vinyl records are cut!

Here's the Pitch:

October 6-8th, 2018 (Sat Oct 6 and Sun Oct 7th are the most important days, Mon the 8th is just additional practice and cutting of attendees records, in case you have to leave early)

Spend three days in scenic Tucson, AZ learning (almost) everything you need to know about DIY Record Cutting! The focus of this camp will be on mono "semi-professional" machines, with particular focus on Presto 6Ns, which are one of the most common and "industry standard" vintage machines around. You can do some amazing things with these incredible machines, and I will show you how.

Bring your own music and we will put it onto discs for you to take home. We will touch on professional record mastering/pressing, but my main interest and experience, and the focus of this camp, will be on the more DIY and experimental side of the hobby. There are only 7 spots available, so buy early because every previous camp has sold out!

Perfect if you are interested in:
Vinyl records and how their masters are cut
Learning how this strange black art works
Buying a lathe to make your own records
Ordering lathe cuts from a lathe cut service
Cutting your own music to disc

Topics covered:
The science behind vinyl record cutting
Lathe Operations and equipment
The pressing process
Lacquer dub plate cutting
Experimental and alternative materials (plexiglass, laserdiscs, picnic plates, etc)

Please Note: You are responsible for your own transportation to/from Tucson and your accommodations. However, the hotels here are pretty damn cheap (DO NOT book a hotel on Oracle Rd unless you enjoy the company of tweekers and ladies of the night).

RENTAL ROOMS AVAILABLE: And, if you want, I've got a cute mid-mod casita mother in law next to my house that I rent on airbnb, that can be yours for the whole stay (you can come in Friday night and stay until Tuesday, or longer if you want) for an extra $150, or a shared room in my house with a full size bed for an extra $100.

Signed Test Pressings Added!
We added some signed test pressings from Sugar Candy Mountain, American Monoxide, SM WOLF, The Blank Tapes, etc to the Test Pressings category of the site. Also put up some NOT signed Saqqara Mastabas test pressings (Matthew Friedberger from The Fiery Furnaces + Bob from Sebadoh playing freaky electronic jazz).
