Geckos LP! (M Ward/Howe Gelb/McKowski), New Floating Action LP! Eric Slick's Dragula themed Jazz LP,

Back again so soon? By the time this email autosends, I will most likely be in either Buenos Aires (installing a lathe) or Navagentes, Brazil (picking up the first batch of MiniCut-02 lathes (sold out in 2 days!).

If you've been waiting on your Jason Lytle repressing of the splatter LP, (because the initial batch turned out to be shitty) the repress is FINALLY here! But it took so goddamn long that we were almost ready to release the newest batch (timed around the Sept 26th release of the highly anticipated Geckos LP (which already sold out of the first pressing via distributors to record stores before it was even released!).

UPDATE Jason Lytle Order + New Releases COMBINED SHIPPING: SOoOOooo... If you bought the splatter, Patreon or test pressing Lytle LP and want to combine shipping with any of these new releases, go to the "COMBINE SHIPPING" item HERE and purchase it for $0.00 and that will be the signal to Sam, my long suffering Shipping Guru to combine your old order and refund you some shipping.

1.Geckos - ST LP! (M Ward + Howe Gelb + McKowski)

So excited for this little slice of Southwestern Song Stylings featuring some of my favorite songwriters. Pick up the Geckos 7" as well if you haven't already!

Geckøs is the collective spirit of acclaimed songwriter M. Ward, Giant Sand visionary Howe Gelb, and Irish multi-instrumentalist McKowski. Born out of an impromptu recording session that was sparked by an encounter at the wedding of a mutual friend, the project blends the rich flavors of the Southwest with indie folk, Spanish influences, and a touch of Irish mysticism. While initial recordings took place in Tucson, it became a true transatlantic project when the members returned to their hometowns and continued trading ideas. The trio eventually regrouped in studios across Ireland, London, and Bristol, where renowned English producer John Parish mixed multiple tracks. Geckøs’ self-titled debut is steeped in story, spontaneity, and surreal charm, channeling the spirit of three singular voices discovering a new, shared musical language.

The album is released in partnership between Org Music and coconspirators PIAPTK Recordings. If I'm sold out, go to www.ORGMUSIC.com to find more. And check out their insane catalogue.

Limited to 400 copies on Metallic gold vinyl and 600 on Red Vinyl to stores.

2. Floating Action - Hand Carved Garden Tool LP

The next (Last?) in the series of FINAL ALBUMS from Floating Action Slash Final PIAPTK Release.. (One of these days you might not have FA/PIAPTK to kick around anymore. ;-) .

20 Seth Kaufman Handmade Test Pressings also available! As has been with every Floating Action PIAPTK has released, Seth went out into his garden and made 20 stencilled and painted covers for the test pressings. This time, he used a railroad spike from Marshall, NC "the most destroyed town in the hurricane last year" where the train tracks are still unusable. Hand Carved Garden Tool was written and recorded immediately after the Hurricane of 2024.

Floating Action Pile On Pack -
Includes:
-Hand Carved Garden Tool LP on peas and carrots vinyl

-Jinx Protecting LP on colored vinyl
-Jinx Protecting Incense Burner + Incense Pack
-Floating Action - ST LP reissue
-Floating Action ST Air Freshener
-Floating Action Glacial Speed Ice Scraper (Winter's coming!)

AND... if you missed out on Seth's first proper album, TING, there are a few copies in the Archives at Original Prices Section: Also put up some handpainted Almost Halloween time Floating Action Lps! http://piaptk.com/products/864329-archives-and-out-of-print-pressed

Official Statement:

Each Floating Action album seems like it’s going to be the last one ever. Fifteen albums, at a pace of roughly one new album per year- it seems like there’s no way to create more. But then the ideas start to creep in, and after a few months, there are suddenly, almost by surprise, enough to make another album.

A Hand Carved Garden Tool was created effortlessly, zero overthinking, leave the frayed ends on, classic Seth Kauffman approach.

Many lyric themes, including the album title, were inspired by a trip to Spain, and an interview with painter Joan Miro.

In many ways, the instruments, approach, and resourcefulness of how AHCGT was made, IS the musical equivalent of a hand carved garden tool.

This album has that perfect, organic, effortless flow - and is the pinnacle of that first-take (even pre-first take!) magic and rawness, that has become the unique stamp that Kauffman keeps searching for.

3. Eric Slick - Dragula LP

Not sure what I was expecting when Eric reached out and asked if I wanted to release a new record he as working on earlier this year. But it definitely WASN'T A Dragula themed Hanukkah jazz record. But, it is excellent and fits right in with my recent fascinations with instrumental(ish) music.

It also gave me the opportunity to use an idea I've been wanting to try for years. You know how 45s require a "45 adapter"? I always thought, why can't that "adapter" be obnoxiously specific and relevantly shaped to the concept of the album? For a while I was seriously considering doing a series of Texas bands from my formative years with a Texas shaped adapter, but Covid killed that one.

Sooooo.... we decided to do a BLOOD DROP AMULET... A DragulAmulet if you will, ready to hang on a chain of your choice, as the center adapter.

All LPs come in a handmade cover by Eric himself!

CHAOS THEORY EDITION: This "series" is the physical embodiment of PIAPTK's "It's not a fuckup, it's a feature" mentality. I could go into how and why this happened, but it is irrelevant. There are 25 copies of this release that are on Black vinyl with Red DragulAmulet center adapter, but this combination throws the center of the plastic off, meaning that the groove set is centered on the spindle hole, but the center hole is not centered on the plastic and the plastic spins off-center on a turntable. This will NOT play on a Crosley, automatic turntables, or any turntable that has an obstruction close to the edge of the platter, but should play on most standard DJ style turntables.

Blurb from Eric:
Do you want to dig through the ditches? Burn through the witches? Well, look no further than “Dragula: A Suite In Five Parts”. Composed in 2021, it’s the third and final phase of New Age Rage. I wrote it as a sort of a free jazz performance art piece for a solo show at Nelson Drum Shop in Nashville, and now you can enjoy it in the privacy of your own home. You may even notice some recurring motifs and things that eventually became full blown songs on New Age Rage. DRAGEULA. But really, it’s a tribute to poet laureate and horror master Robert Bartlett Cummings, aka Rob Zombie. In 2024, I assembled a crack team of jazz and improv musicians and we recorded it directly to tape in 4 hours at Zac Brown Band’s Southern Grounds studio. In fact, it was mixed to tape and we haven’t touched it since. We also got Natalie Prass and Jenn Wasner to sing on it, a decision I hope they don’t regret making. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Live, laugh, and most importantly, love in the back of my Dragula.

4. McKowski - The Bukowski Tapes 10"

I first met Irishman Mark McCausland when he came to Tucson for a few Geckos show (a band he shares with M. Ward and Howe Gelb) and we hit it off famously. This excellent EP of Bukowski readings set to Mark's fingerpicked guitar and strings vibey instrumentals will most likely be the first in a series of McKowski releases on PIAPTK.

PLEASE NOTE: due to the quiet nature of the music, the lathe cut surface noise is more prevalent than on a rock record, but it is not overly distracting and sort of fits the old-timey vibe of the music.

From Mark:

McKOWSKI / Bukowski tapes

Words and voice by Charles Bukowski, put to the music of Mark McKowski. Limited to 50 copies worldwide. Typewriter photo by Howe Gelb. Exclusively available at PIAPTK & www.mckowski.com.

Mark McCausland is an Irish songwriter/producer/musician known for his solo material under the name McKowski and his collaborations with an eclectic variety of artists – notably Nick Power of The Coral, as well as M Ward & Howe Gelb, (collectively known as Geckøs). More recently, one of his short stories got turned into a feature film, The Spin, which he also composed the musical score for. He continues to work from his home studio on the outskirts of Omagh, the town that he’s been trying to escape since birth.

5. Slant Can (Howe Gelb + Beth Goodfellow) - Aqua 8"

60% of the Geckos live band (Howe Gelb, Beth Goodfellow (Iron and Wine, Pokey Lafarge) and Thoger Lund (half the bands in Tucson), work out their improvisational itches.

Blurb from the band:

This band formed us.

A week’s worth of rehearsing for a Giant Sand European tour with Thøger Lund for the upcoming Danish line up, for Autumn 2025 led to this spontaneous creation instead that included newly Tuxoned Bethy Goodfellow.

Like a child meant to stay on course and finish his homework, instead would sneak out between songs needing to be gone over and instantly make up something new without losing the groove masters.

Bethy would call out an old Giant Sand song, like October Anywhere, from the first album back in 1984, and instead of wondering how she was aware of something so ancient and not even on the current rehearsal list of music between 2002 - 2012 with the Danes, we’d dive into it anyway.

And then upon surfacing .. Thøger might be coming up with a new bass line of random notion while Bethy instantly tucks in under it with a wonder beat and Howe then let’s loose with some chords and murmur that even he didn’t know had been lying dormant within until such evoking sonic gathering offers escape of.

And voila. Something unwritten a moment before impact of performance and capture.

A kind of improvisation that’s been looking ever since the get go of musical affiliation in this camp. An understanding that music is most alive when it’s not being copied, as if rehearsing was a big lie of eventual presentation, and instead true conglomeration of affiliates instantly come up with an excitement of instantaneous song combustion without losing the thread.

SLANT CAN

when straight can’t

Lou Barlow, Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) / Ron Cameron, Golden Boots related 8"s, Lathe Cut Camp 27

HEYYYY... It's almost fall! Tucson is still hot as hell, but hopefully the end is in sight. Got a lot of new releases coming this fall and winter. GOOD SHIT.

Patreon Reminder: The PIAPTK Patreon really truly helps keep this boat afloat. PIAPTK has only had two profitable years (one even broke $1000!) since 2006. That means that 89% of our history has COST ME, as the proprietor of this beautiful art project slash stupid business model money out of pocket. I give artists 100% of the profit copies of lathe cuts (meaning that I only break even when I sell out, which doesn't always happen (BTW, Feel free to PICK UP SOME LATHE CUTS, they are all excellent). But this Patreon thing has really been an emotional and financial godsend which has pumped some new energy into this old man. AND, in exchange for your patronage, I have been really pulling out every stop at my disposal to bring subscribers some pretty excellent high end artists as FREE EXCLUSIVE RELEASES. So far it's been Dr Dog, Dean and Britta (Luna/Galaxie 500), Lou Barlow, Polyphonic Spree, even a full pressed LP from Floating Action. Lots more coming up! On top of that you get bonus items/discs with Patreon exclusive versions of releases, discounts, and advance notice/first dibs of every release drop. So, if you feel like dropping me a couple bucks a month to help keep this obnoxious dream alive, go to: www.Patreon.com/PIAPTK BUT NOT ON THE APPLE IPHONE APP!!!! (go on a browser or Android phone or Apple will charge you an extra $3). And if you've already signed up, I hope you are loving it! We have a pretty high retention rate and I plan to do everything in my power to keep it that way!

THIS TIME!

1. Patreon Freebie! Lou Barlow - Institutionalized (Suicidal Tendencies cover) with Lou Barlow Bandana cover!
2. Jason Lytle & Ron Cameron LP - Grandaddy outtakes and Lytle Solo compilation
3. Out Doors Hand Painted 8" - Mems of Golden Boots, Clap Yr Hands Say Yeah, Birdie Busch, Truck Tears, etc.
4. DimitriAM - Hand Painted 8" - Dimitri from Golden Boots solo

1.Lou Barlow - Institutionalized 7" PATREON FREEBIE!

This release is available only to Patreon subscribers at the $6 or $10/mo tier that were signed up before 7/31/25. If you don't wanna miss the next one, sign up at www.Patreon.com/PIAPTK to receive up to FOUR exclusive free singles every year! (Previous freebies from Dr Dog, Polyphonic Spree, Floating Action, Dean and Britta (Luna/Galaxie 500), etc).

Lou Barlow - Institutionalized (Suicidal Tendencies Cover) with Lou Barlow Bandana packaging.

Lou Barlow (Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, Folk Implosion, etc) has been a long time favorite. I've been lucky enough to work with Lou for years through my relationship with Joyful Noise Recordings, but I was finally able to pull him in for a PIAPTK release, and I'm excited to do it for his excellent cover of "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies, which is a song that had a significant impact on me as a small town Texas weirdo in the early -mid 90s.

I thought it would be hilarious to make Mike Muir-style bandanas with "Lou Barlow" in Suicidal Tendencies font. 50 hours of heat transfer cutting, weeding, ironing, folding, stuffing, etc later I did NOT think it was nearly as funny. But, they came out great and I really hope you dig them!

2. Jason Lytle: Songs to Accompany the Art of Ron Cameron LP

15th Anniversary Release and the First Time On Vinyl! In beautiful matte sleeves with eurosleeve inner jackets.

Ltd Ed of
250 - Orange with Blue/Grey Splatter Vinyl
350 - Baby Blue VInyl
20 - Test Pressing Packs - in signed, handpainted unique sleeves by Ron Cameron, also includes a copy of the Splatter Vinyl version of the LP. Ron sells his prints for lots of money, and his original works for even more. This is your chance to get a 1/1 for a huge discount.

This is a record that I started to talking to Jason about 7 or 8 years ago, immediately after releasing the Grandaddy "Arm of Roger - The Ham and It's Lily" LP on Soild Gold. And it is finally becoming a reality! Limited to 250 on Orange with Blue Splatter and 350 on Baby Blue vinyl.

Ron Cameron is former Pro Skateboarder and Visual Artist and friend of Former Pro Skateboarder Jason Lytle. You may know Ron for his "late 80's Viral" design "Nothing is Cool", which was ubiquitous and even got namechecked by Michael Stipe in REM's "Man on the Moon".

Back in the early aughts, Jason put together a rarities and outtakes record and made some CDs to accompany one of Ron's Art shows. Some solo recordings, some Grandaddy Outtakes, etc. But it features two of my favorite Lytle compositions: At The Mall in Klamath Falls and DUI BBQ Checkpoint. Stone cold classics that, in my opinion, stand up to anything else in Jason's extensive catalog.

3. Out Doors - Tightwire Two Step / Hard Times Handmade 8"s

The new (first?) solo project from Golden Boots co-frontman, Ryen Eggleston with help from other Boots members and Todd and Alec from Clap Yr Hands Say Yeah and Birdie Busch. Hand painted and stencilled by Ryen, who is one of my favorite visual artists (I own at least a dozen of his paintings and tape art pieces).

Limited to 50 copies, and I only have 23 to sell, the rest went to my archive or to Ryen.

ARTIST BLURB:

OutDoors “anti-imperialist country punk folk music”

Outdoors makes slow-burning songs—stark, unadorned, and focused on the effects of greed and the need for collective care in a fractured world. There’s a similar sensibility to artists like Jason Molina, Silver Jews, or Lou Reed: plainspoken, emotionally direct music rooted in American song traditions.
The project emerges from the DIY music scene in Tucson, Arizona, where Ryen Eggleston has been a steady hand for 25 years as co-captain of the band Golden Boots as well as a multitude of other projects.

This lathe features the first track from the upcoming full length vinyl courtesy of PIAPTK & Haystack Records;
“Tightwire Two-Step” recorded at Oracle Recording Studio(Oracle, AZ) with Dimitri Manos (drums), Sean Rogers (bass), Emily Xander (keys) as well as bonus collaborative cut of
Stephen Foster’s American classic “Hard Times” recorded in Philadelphia, Pa at Sparkle Bones Studio with Birdie Busch (vocals), Todd Erk (bass, engineering), & Alec Ounsworth (vocals).

4. DimitriAM - Godzilla / Traps hand painted 8"s

Godzilla has been a live staple and "Tucson Hit" for Dimitri Manos (Golden Boots, etc) over the last year or so and we've been planning to do something with it for a hot minute, but it's just coming to fruition now. Dimitri hand drew, painted, and stencilled each disc. Limited to only 47 copies, and I only have about 19 to sell because the rest went to Dimitri or my archives.

"Blurb" by Dimitri

I’m Dimitri. I’m glad to be sharing these two songs through PIAPTK. Here’s a bit about me, my surroundings, and the songs themselves. Thanks for listening—hope you enjoy:

I make music in Tucson, Arizona, where it’s hot enough to keep some ambitions pliable and let dry rot take care of the rest. “Godzilla” came after a storm last summer; “Traps” came out of a live jam with Mark Gifford. We were playing through matching Kustom tuck-and-roll amps that were on fire.

Thanks to Mike for putting this out.

Pick One Up Here! - NOTE IF THEY ARE SOLD OUT HERE: Keep an eye on http://dimitriam.bandcamp.com because Dimitri will be putting up his copies very soon!

Geckos (M Ward + Howe Gelb + McKowski), Tripping Daisy! and The Websites!

YOOOO! Had to bust these out before I leave the barren hellscapes of the Tucson summer for a couple months. I'm currently in Johannesburg, South Africa installing a lathe. I get home and 36 hours later I leave for France to Tour Manage The Websites for two weeks and to pay a service call on Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk to help him reinstall the lathe he bought from me a few years ago oin his new studio. Also meeting up with the curator of a traveling European art exhibit about strange vinyl record formats, in which I will have 12-13 pieces featured. Then I'll be flying to Olympia to see Swamp Dogg play at Markly Morrison's (Low Profile Podcast and Lazer Zeppelin / Lake / Skrill Meadow) Scherler Sundays Concert Series and then down to Mexico City to visit a lathe colleague and potentially interview for my first day job in 13 years. After that, I'll go to the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Grateful Dead in Golden Gate Park in early August. If any of you will be there, hmu and let's hang.

PLEASE CHECK OUT SOME OF THE RECENT PREVIOUS RELEASES AND GIVE SOMETHING NEW A SHOT.

(AND OF COURSE, PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING THE PATREON AND GETTING FREE RECORDS, DISCOUNTS, AND SPECIAL VERSIONS. (But sign up on a web browser, NOT yr iphone because Apple charges a 50% premium www.PATREON.com/PIAPTK).

Because pressed 7"s are so expensive to make we are selling them at breakeven cost after free artist copies.

2. Tripping Daisy - HAM I AM 7" (Lost demo)

Growing up in North Central Texas, Tripping Daisy loomed large in the mid-90s for me. One of the major label signees during the post-Grunge feeding frenzy that popped up when it was decided that "Dallas might be the "Next Seattle"" and all sorts of great bands from Dallas; Toadies, Brutal Juice, Bobgoblin, Baboon and the mighty Tripping Daisy all got deals. And both the Toadies and Tripping Daisy all scored big MTV hits. Tripping Daisy released two more amazing albums on their own "Good Records" before breaking up due to the death of their guitarist Wes Berggen. But I saw them many many times during college and after and became fairly good acquaintances with their drummer Ben Curtis, who went off to start Secret Machines and School of Seven Bells. And Tim and Mark from Tripping Daisy started The Polyphonic Spree along with a bunch of friends of mine from [DARYL] and every other band in Denton/Dallas.

This summer Tripping Daisy is BACK and touring the whole East Coast (Dates are here: https://www.trippingdaisy.com/pages/tour) and I have the privilege of releasing a Tour single of a previously unreleased home studio demo called HAM I AM.

Limited to 325 Copies on one sided white square vinyl lathe cut with transparency inserts.

3. The Websites - Rock n Rolled LP

The Websites are a Tucson Duo that play Devo-esque Dorky Dadrock Songs about early Internet things. They both play/ed in a pretty wide cross section of classic Tucson bands like Electroshockbox, Lenguas Largas, Whispering Wires, Gem Show, Quiet Please, etc etc.

I will be tour managing their upcoming French tour playing shows in Nantes, Il De Rey, Bordeaux, etc in Mid-June.

Limited edition of 100 Pressed LPs.

Dean & Britta (Luna), SUN RA!, LAKE! Dominic Angelella, and Special World!

Hello! I try to get a record drop out every three months. And apparently I’ve been consistent enough over the years to have raised concerns from several people who have emailed lately (it’s been 5 months since our last drop) making sure I’m still alive. And I am!

But, I’ve been sorta delayed by waiting to get final art and audio from some of the artists. And I am extremely excited about this batch! Also, after years of trying to get any color of plastic than clear, white, and black, I finally found a supplier for Red, Yellow, and Green! Aaaaannnndddd…. They are in China, so this may be my last shipment from them for a while, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts!

1. PATREON TEN DOLLAR SUBSCRIBER FREEBIE – DEAN AND BRITTA (Luna/Galaxie 500) cover NYC songwriters
2. SUN RA! – UNRELEASED TRACKS 10”
3. DOMINIC ANGELLELA – Set Fire to the House/Smoking at the Lake House
4. SPECIAL WORLD (Andy Molholt) – Big Apple 3 AM
5. LAKE – Red Sails 7”
6. Lathe Cut Camp 26 - Tucson, May 10-12, 2025

Upcoming Releases
from Floating Action (another Last Album Ever!), The Websites (who I will be touring managing on a tour of France this June, Geckos (M. Ward + Howe Gelb of Giant Sand and McKowski), Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Polar Bear (Eric Avery from Janes Addiction) and a lot of other stuff I can’t talk about yet!

PAST RELEASES: Would love if you would check out the back catalog. Every release is hand picked by me. There is so much amazing stuff in the back catalog... Floating Action (ST Reissue and JInx Protecting still in print... the other 10 albums we've released have sold out, and these are down to less than 20 copies), Mr Husband's WildFlower is a fucking banger, Gift Machine are fantastic and worth a gander, Toby Leaman from Dr Dog's Solo album, Military Applications slaps harder than Wayne Gretzky, the Jason Simon (Dead Meadow) solo album Hindsight 2020 is fantastic, Golden Boots - Nite Drives and Money Mark - Stand up for Your Rice have everything you need for an instrumental music dinner party. So please help me spread the word about these fantastic albums!

1. DEAN AND BRITTA – PATREON FREEBIE!
This is a freebie that is ONLY available to people who were subscribed at the “TENNER” Level at www.patreon.com/piaptk before April 12, 2025. If you missed out and don’t want to miss out on the next freebie (I do four freebies a year), sign up for the Patreon! You also get discounts, first notice, free downloads, etc etc.

This is a one sided white vinyl 8” of two of the finest songwriters to ever come out of NYC (although they are polar opposites)…. Lou Reed and Paul Simon. Has the Songs “A Gift” by Lou, and “Homeward Bound” by Paul and Art.

2. SUN RA – UNRELEASED STENCIL 10” – Unique stencilled discs featuring two unreleased live Sun Ra recordings from his heyday. "The Place of Five Points" (1985) and "U.F.O." (1978).

This was a release that wasn’t even remotely on my bucket list because it seemed completely impossible. I first hear Sun Ra when I was visiting my sister in NYC in 2003 and went to see The MC5 (or what was left of them) in Central Park and the Sun Ra Arkestra with Marshall Allen opened and I was blown away! I went down a deep deep rabbit hole with Sun Ra. It was my first real foray into jazz having grown up in Texas surrounded by NeoTraditional country, Punk, and Indie Rock. Sun Ra still represents everything I love about jazz… skronky, spacey, melodic and way out there.

This is a co-release with classic indie rock label forefathers, Bar/None Records from Hoboken, NJ.

Only 159 made, and everyone is unique! I made about 25 stencils and my handyman Tommy Michael and I spent two days out in the yard just getting wild with stencil and color combinations. I don’t have many copies for sale, so if they sell out here, check Bar/None’s site because they will also have some.

Dominic Angella – Set Fire to the House / Smoking at the Lake House – Two songs about Fire and Houses from my old friend Dom, who I first met when he was on tour with Eric Slick’s band Lithuania. Dom now plays with Lucy Dacus. He just happened to be playing a solo show in NYC when last time I was there, and it was the first time I got to see what a truly great songwriter he was. So, we set a PIAPTK release in motion that night and it is finally coming to fruition.

Only 100 copies with both songs on one side of a red vinyl square

SPECIAL WORLD (Andy Molholt) – BIG APPLE 3 AM 7”
Weirdly enough, I first met Andy when he was on tour with Eric Slick as well. Andy also plays in Speedy Ortiz. We’ve been talking about doing something together for years, and now is the time.

Limited edition of 100 copies on green square vinyl!

LAKE – RED SAILS 7”!

LAKE are some of my oldest friends from Olympia. This is a cover of Red Sails by 80s British New Wave band China Crisis. Each one is spray painted in sunset colors with a transparency insert.

They just released an excellent new album called Bucolic Gone and are on tour now!

LATHE CUT CAMP 26! May 10-12, 2025 in Tucson, AZ
(This Camp is PERFECT FOR NEWBIES or Folks who just want to learn how it's done whether they want to start cutting themselves or not!)
(Classes are Saturday thru Monday, but Monday is just extra practice and cutting of campers records, so if you need to fly in late Friday and leave late Sunday, you will get most of the information)
YOU ALSO GET TO CUT YOUR OWN RECORDS AND TAKE THEM WITH YOU!
THERE ARE ONLY 8 SPOTS AND ALL PREVIOUS CAMPS HAVE SOLD OUT!
Spend three days in scenic Tucson, AZ learning (almost) everything you need to know about DIY Record Cutting! The focus of this camp will be on mono "semi-professional" machines, with particular focus on Presto 6Ns, which are one of the most common and "industry standard" vintage machines around. (if you have a different model that you want to learn more about, please ask! I may have one you can use here, or you can bring your own). You can do some amazing things with these incredible machines, and I will show you how.
We will also talk about and do a little Stereo Diamond cutting demo.
Bring your own music and we will put it onto discs for you to take home. We will touch on professional record mastering/pressing, but my main interest and experience, and the focus of this camp, will be on the more DIY and experimental side of the hobby. There are only 8 spots available, so buy early because every previous camp has sold out!
Perfect if you are interested in:
Vinyl records and how their masters are cut
Learning how this strange black art works
Buying a lathe to make your own records
Ordering lathe cuts from a lathe cut service
Cutting your own music to disc

Topics covered:
The science behind vinyl record cutting
Lathe Operations and equipment
The pressing process
Lacquer dub plate cutting
Experimental and alternative materials (plexiglass, laserdiscs, picnic plates, etc)
Stereo Diamond Hifi One-Off Records (Introduction to)
Please Note: You are responsible for your own transportation to/from Tucson and your accommodations.

M. Ward + Howe Gelb + McKowski = GECKOS!

Giant Sand's Howe Gelb teams up with M. Ward and McKowski (Ireland's The Lost Brothers / The Basement) for some killer Southwest vibe folk. Two different singles, both limited to 100 copies (we gave the band half so only have about 45 to sell, so don't sleep on them! The band requested this be physical only, no digital... but if you like the other projects of everyone involved and/or Calexico, Handsome Brothers, Morricone, Leonard Cohen, etc you will LOVE this. 45 rpm clear square lathe cut 7"s.

Geckos: Dance of the Gecko / Botas Negras

Geckos: Lo Hice / Black Diamond
